Earlier tonight I walked upstairs and overheard my mom talking to her mom on the phone, saying something along the lines of "it was so ridiculous! why did she do that?" and i jokingly said something like Are you talking about me?? She goes "Noooo. We're talking about Sara Sidle." Hahah yessss. Nothing quite like bridging generations.
Also: Starting a new journal later on in the weekend. I'm tired of this one. |

| hallie and mal, a.k.a the loves of my (school) life. |

School is so Fucking overwhelming. I really enjoyed how in Human Geo today everyone around me (including myself) had a simultaneous meltdown; just completely flipped shit. I love it though, in all honesty. The stress, the confusion, how we all bond in hatred for Callahan (seriously, she needs to leave SES and go teach at a prep school because THAT'S NOT HOW WE DO IT HERE DUDE). I really really miss last year, and everytime one of my old teachers walks by Hallie and I cringe together, because a little part of us dies in seeing them and remembering how uniformly fantastic it was. I don't know. This year is indeed draining and the teachers have impossible shoes to fill, but it is growing on me. At least it's a reason to get up and stuff myself with java every morning. |

i'm having major "getting shit done" issues. but, at least there seems to be a balance between my academic misgivings and spending entire days cold and soaked and happy in the rain, in the dirt, and under the roaring gray clouds. |

a perfectly breezy, cool night in minneapolis. a block party off of lake street with dancing and hollering and live wonderful hip hop. oh, and that random professional air-guitarist lady. she was pretty impressive, expecially when she engaged in some on stage gymnastic moves. the man to the left, whom i decided is named Ray, wheeled his bicycle through the crowd and whenever there were hands in the air he (i'm serious, Literally) held his bike up by both wheels above his head and bomped it to the beat.
my ears ring. my eyes are tired. i love this song. |

Every day I come home utterly exhausted and with a planner full of projects. My body is so heavy. Throughout the afternoons, there are dozens of much needed hugs and complaints and exasperated sighs. This morning, Curtis, Rachel and I collapsed in a dramatic fall onto the dirt and leaves, trying to remain both warm and sane below the oaks and dogwood- a task seemingly impossible. And so we stay still with jeans wet and dirty, laughing at each other, laughing at ourselves. When crazy people are surrounded by such similar absurdity, there is nothing much else to do. |

So I was listening to Camille really loud and my dad came over to me and started dancing to the music (jokingly), and then he made me download Donovan Frankenreiter and I liked it, so he asked me to make a CD for him. We have very similar taste in music, but he doesn't know most of the artists I listen to so Hoorah for getting parents into cool tunes.
The playlist:
"Hospital Beds" Cold War Kids "Dark Matter" Andrew Bird "Apply Some Pressure" Maximo Park "Come on Feel the Noise" Quiet Riot "Ta Douleur" Camille "Fire Eye'd Boy" Broken Social Scene "Banquet" Bloc Party "El Torrente" Minus the Bear "Chinese Translation" M.Ward "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" Israel Kamakawiwo'ole "It Don't Matter to Me" Donovan Frankenreiter "Vincent O'Brien" M.Ward "Something to Talk About" Badly Drawn Boy "The King of Carrot Flowers, Pt.1" Neutral Milk Hotel "Gimme One Reason" Tracy Chapman "National Anthem of Nowhere" Apostle of Hustle "Free" Donovan Frankenreiter with Jack Johnson "If I Ever Leave This World Alive" Flogging Molly |
